Come and learn about the inventions and ideas that have changed our world!  In this highly interactive and hands-on class, we will learn about all types of inventions; those that fly, those that illuminate, those that protect, build, explode, and more! This class will both challenge and inspire your learner to develop their ideas and create unique inventions of their own- from idea, to design, to build…including how to file a patent! 

If you have a heart for caring for animals, then you will love learning how to be a veterinarian! Throughout this engaging unit, students will follow along in their own veterinary journal, hypothesizing each case study and “figuring out the problem” with the animals just as real veterinarians do!  We will cover a variety of animals from horse to cat, dog, llama, monkey, rabbit, goat, etc. and, even more than focusing on the animal itself, we will focus on the techniques and skills a veterinarian must know like anatomy, suturing, labs, diagnosis of exclusion, and SO MUCH MORE! Come get a first-hand look into what it is like to practice veterinary medicine!

Step into the world of Zoology to learn what real zoologists do, day in and day out, and how fascinating and truly captivating their career is!  From mammals and birds to reptiles and amphibians, your learner will go on a virtual adventure through Africa  to learn the ins and outs of their favorite animals though storytelling, videos and lots of hands-on, real-world activities just like the specialists who spends their life studying and researching animals in all their splendor!

There are so many mysteries in history- escape from Alcatraz, JFK assassination, explosions in Siberia, the Bermuda Triangle, and so much more! What’s true and what’s not?  Can you separate fact from fiction?  Evidence and investigation… what are good sources for reliability?  How can you form your own theories? From critical thinking to science to investigation, come learn how to be a great historian as we  jump in and explore everything from declassified CIA and FBI files to the words of John White and the mystery of Roanoke- and everything else in between! This fun and engaging class will have your learner on the edge of their seat!

Did you know that lightning has a smell to it? Did you know that the science of how a tornado is formed is still partly a mystery? How do meteorologists know what the temperature will be next week? In this highly engaging class, learners will step into the world of those who throw caution to the wind- storm chasers! We will be learning about tornadoes, hurricanes, derechoes, blizzards, lightening,  and more- all based on the science of meteorology. Each week will include lots of experiential learning through storytelling, notebooking, and most importantly, hands-on experiments!

Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in the 1800’s?  A time when  many people packed or sold everything they owned, loaded into a covered wagon, and set out for a promise of land that was hundreds or thousands of miles away! They were called settlers and pioneers, and they were determined to secure their future, but in order to make it they would need to live off the land!  Where would they live?  What would they take with them?  How would they find food?  What about clean water?  This fun and engaging class will take students back through time to learn about things like foraging for food, building a water filter, creating a well pulley system, candle dipping, soap making, and so much more! 

You may think you know the story of April 14th, 1912, but just like those who first stepped onto this grand ship in England, your voyage is only beginning! Settle in to your stateroom, savor the fine meals of first class dining, tap your foot to an Irish tune in steerage, and keep a lookout for ice from the crow’s nest. ALL ABOARD for your trip on….the Titanic!  This class is  jam-packed with social studies, geography, and history—from the Potato Famine to immigration and Irish history… and of course the history of one of the most well-known nights in the world!  We will also cover area  of science, like buoyancy, water displacement abd photo mosaics (NASA style). Students will even be creating their own icebergs, ships, and more!

Come learn about Erik the Red, Alfred the Great, Leif Eriksson and more as we dive into the exciting world of courageous Viking explorers! We will follow the story of a small group of people who had a big impact on history as students learn about the Viking way of life! In this fun and engaging class, Viking history will come to life as students learn how to navigate by the stars, build their own armor, write secret messages in Norse alphabet, cook a traditional Viking stew, and more!
